Wanted men found during traffic stop in Clarington


Three people are facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in Bowmanville.

Officers stopped a suspicious vehicle near Baseline Road and Liberty Street South Tuesday just before 8:30 p.m.

Police say the registered owner of the vehicle was wanted by police.

After checking the driver’s ID, it was confirmed that he was the owner and had a warrant out for his arrest.

Another wanted man was also found in the vehicle along with a woman.

After searching the vehicle, police found drugs and weapons.

All three people were arrested.

Edward Whalen, age 38, of No Fixed Address is charged with Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (opioid), Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Obstruct Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Probation Order, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

Daniel Werginz age 31, from Bowmanville is charged with Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

Brittany Ranger, age 28, from Oshawa is charged with Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
