Oshawa boy responsible for multiple knifepoint robberies arrested


A teenager is facing charges after threatening someone with a knife during a cell phone robbery in Oshawa.

On March 23 around 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a call near Rossland Road East and Harmony Road North.

The victim arranged to sell a cell phone through Facebook Marketplace and during the meeting, the suspect took the phone and ran.

When the victim attempted to chase the thief, a second suspect confronted him and made threats with a knife. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

Investigators say the second suspect is responsible for at least three other similar thefts. He was located and arrested in Oshawa. The knife believed to have been used in the thefts was also found.

A 15-year-old boy from Oshawa is charged with theft under $5000 x4, possess property obtained by crime under $5000 x4, assault with a weapon, possess weapon dangerous and traffic in property obtained by crime under $5000.

The first suspect remains outstanding and at this point police have not released a description.
