New park opens in Oshawa with playground, BMX and mountain bike park, pickleball courts and more

Oshawa’s newest park is complete and ready for the community to enjoy.

Rose Valley Community Park at 1095 Thornton Road North is now officially open.

It has a playground, pickleball courts, a BMX and mountain bike park, green space, a garden, washrooms and a parking lot.

The contractor is still doing some finishing touches, which includes a final washroom inspection.

The grand opening celebration is set for Saturday, October 4 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

There will be family-friendly activities, live demonstrations, city information booths and more. There will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The public parking lot will be closed that day unless you have an accessible parking permit, but shuttle buses will be available. You can catch one after parking at the Durham Catholic District School Board lot at 650 Rossland Road. You can also ride your bicycle to the park instead.
