Toronto police want to make sure there are no other victims of a man charged in a child luring investigation.
They say on Tuesday the Toronto police Internet Child Exploitation Section carried out a search warrant near Dufferin Street and King Street West.
It’s alleged a 38-year-old man communicated online with a child, met up with the victim, knowing they were underage, and sexually assaulted them.
The suspect portrayed himself as 17-years-old and used Snapchat to speak to the victim with the usernames “savag3love666” and “ydk.lov33”
Fathi Rashid, 38, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with luring a child, sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age, fail to comply with release order.
Investigators believe there may be more victims and have released the above images of the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-8500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
The Toronto Police Service recognizes that parents and caregivers are the frontline when it comes to protecting children on the Internet and electronic devices. We encourage you to remain vigilant in your efforts – the safety tips outlined below are recommended for children of any age.
Reporting of any online exploitation can also be made at Canada’s National Tipline for Reporting the Online Sexual Exploitation of Children at cybertip.ca.
This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
There are also resources available through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health for those who have a sexual interest in children. The new Talking for Change program is the first of its kind in Canada and provides national and all-ages help for those concerned about their risk to use child sexual exploitation material or offend sexually against a child.
