DRPS officers are sporting new headgear

You may notice Durham Police Officers’ uniforms may look a little bit different.

Starting on Friday, officers have been issued baseball caps.

It will be an alternative to the forage hats for part of their uniforms for general front-line patrol duties.

The force says the move to the new headgear is in line with other police services in Ontario.

Police say the new hats feature a full-colour crest on the front, with red striping and POLICE written on the side.

The baseball caps are a part of officers’ uniforms and will not be worn by officers while off-duty.
