Ontario COVID-19 Update: February 14

COVID-19 data in Ontario is once again heading in the right direction.

The province reported 1,369 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 Monday, 171 less than Sunday’s report.

However, not all hospitals report information on weekends.

Of those patients, 394 are in the ICU, eight less than Thursday.

There were eights deaths announced, all of which occurred in the last month.

It brings the death toll in the province to 12,101.

There were 1,765 cases reported Monday, but Public Health Ontario admits case counts are an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19 in the province.

The number of known active cases went down to 26,170, but that number is also underestimated due to the province’s testing limitations.

There were 9,962 tests completed the day prior to this report with a backlog of 3,018 tests.

The province is reporting a positivity rate of 13.0 per cent.

So far in Ontario, 31,303,825 vaccines have been administered.

According to the province, 12,530,006 people have at least one dose, 11,907,730 people have received two doses and 6,760,917 have three doses.

In Ontario, 89.41 per cent of eligible residents five and up have their first shot and 84.98 per cent have two doses.

Right now, third doses are only open to those 18 and up and 56.37 per cent have three shots.
