Durham police say a man who shouldn’t have been behind the wheel is facing charges after striking a woman in Oshawa.
It happened around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Dean Avenue and Hillcrest Drive, just west of Wilson Road.
According to police, a 64-year-old woman was crossing the street with her dog when she was hit by a dark Kia.
She was taken to a Toronto trauma centre with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Kia, a 55-year-old Oshawa man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
He was charged with driving in breach of conditions prohibited.
Anyone with other info or who witnessed the collision is asked to call Cst. Hill of Central East Division at 905-579-1520 ext. 2415, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Take his drivers license away for life
No more second chances
Does the driver have a name?
I hope the dog is okay!
They already did take his license. He was prohibited. Taking for life won’t make a difference, he will still go and drive.
People drive down this street like it’s a race track! We need obstacles here but of course we always have to wait for some innocent person to get hurt!
Eileen is right. The report should include what happened with dog.
Atleast he stayed at the accident. He didn’t take off.
