Toronto man and woman facing fraud charges after opening fake bank accounts in Whitby: DRPS


Durham police say they arrested a Toronto woman while she was opening a fake bank account in Whitby.

Officers were called for a potential fraud to a Thickson Road TD Canada Trust bank on May 17 around 6:45 p.m.

When they got there, they arrested Siba Loqman, 18, of Toronto.

A man had left the bank before officers arrived, but Moshood Olawuyi, 25, of Toronto was later arrested.

Police say the woman had earlier entered a Scotiabank in north Whitby and fraudulently opened a bank account.

Officers seized a number of fake debit and credit cards, fraudulent driver’s licenses, birth certificates and cash.

Both were charged with fraud under $5,000 x2.

Loqman was charged with possess identify document x3, possess credit card obtained by crime, utter forged document x2 and possess forged documents.

Olawuyi was charged with possess identify document, obstruct police, possess credit card obtained by crime x4 and possess proceeds of crime over $5,000.

They were both released on a promise to appear.

    It might be part of the ghana crime ring to launder money to another country for the gang. Many scams out of ghana and know they have moved to bank scams. Trust me they sent me bank info and logged in of google to the account only to learn from interpol it was a doubed website….
