NHL

The Maple Leafs are off Wednesday, after an overtime loss to the Devils on Tuesday.  Toronto will host San Jose on Thursday.  The Leafs have now lost six of their last seven games, but are still tied with the Winnipeg Jets for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  The two teams are just two points up on the Washington Capitals.  The Capitals are facing the Senators in Ottawa on Wednesday.  Washington’s a dismal 10-20 on the road this season, while Ottawa comes in having won four of its last five games overall.  There are just two other games on Wednesday’s schedule with the Boston Bruins taking on the Blues in St. Louis and the Colorado Avalanche hosting the LA Kings.

OHL

The Oshawa Generals and Mississauga St. Mikes Majors are now tied for 6th place in the Eastern Conference.  The Peterborough Petes are one point back while the Belleville Bulls are two points behind.  The Generals are heading south of the border this week, as they play in Plymouth on Friday and in Saginaw on Saturday.  The Majors host the Ice Dogs Friday, play in Barrie on Saturday and are then home to the Otters on Sunday.  The 3rd place Brampton Battalion are hosting the Bulls on Friday and the Greyhounds on Sunday.

SENIOR ‘A’

This is the final week of the regular season in the Allan Cup Hockey League, and the Whitby Dunlops will face the Tundra in Orillia, in a first round playoff preview.  The Dunnies and Tundra will hook up in one semi-final, while the other semi has Brantford and Dundas squaring off.  The Norwood Vipers, who’ve managed just six wins so far this season, will not make the post-season.

BASKETBALL

The Raptors are back in action on Wednesday night, as they host the Detroit Pistons, in their final game ahead of this weekend’s All-Star break.  Toronto’s lost four in a row and seven of its last eight games.  The Raptors are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, 6.5 games out of a playoff spot.

The Oshawa Power have won four in a row, and continue to pursue that final playoff spot in the NBL of Canada.  Oshawa has just three games left in the regular season, and all are on the road.  The Power will play in Saint John this Thursday and again next Thursday before wrapping things up next Friday in Summerside.  Oshawa’s just 1.5 games back of Saint John for the final playoff spot.
