The decline in the price of gasoline in April pushed inflation lower than expected. Stats Canada says the rate is at its lowest level since October of 2009 at 0.4 per cent. Inflation is far from the Bank of Canada’s ideal of two per cent and below the low end of its target range, so it’s likely to end talk of raising interest rates.
