York police search for man wanted in Markham home invasion

York police are looking to the public for help in tracking down a man wanted for a home invasion in Markham. Officials say back on May 1st, the suspect forced his way into a residence in the Castlemore and Landsown area before fleeing the scene. The man is described as brown, in his mid-to-late 20’s, stood about 5’8 and had a thin build. Two Oshawa men charged in human trafficking case

Two Oshawa men have been charged in a human trafficking case. Windsor police say they received complaints from an 18 year-old woman back in March, alleging she was coerced into acts of prostitution in the Toronto area. Last week, officers arrested 27 year-old Merrick Anthony Dennis and 25 year-old Jerome Barron Dorsey.
Second suspect in Tim Bosma case will plead not guilty

The lawyer for a second suspect charged in the death of Tim Bosma says his client will plead not guilty. 25 year old Mark Smich appeared in court yesterday in Hamilton to face a charge of first-degree murder. Dellen Millard was previously charged with first-degree murder as well as forcible confinement and theft of a vehicle. The lawyer for the 27 year old has said his client will also plead not guilty. Police allege the suspects are the two men Bosma took for a test drive in the pickup truck he was trying to sell online.
Via Rail terror plot suspect wants Lawyer to use Qu’ran in his defense

A man charged in an alleged plot against via rail passenger train says he wants to be represented by a lawyer who agrees that the Qu’ran should be used as a “reference” in his case. Chiheb Esseghaier appeared in a Toronto court by video link this morning and said he is seeking a legal aid lawyer to defend him against several terrorism-related charges in what the R.C.M.P has called the first known alleged plot in Canada directed by Al-Qaida. Esseghaier has said he does not recognize the authority of criminal code, telling court today, “I don’t want a book written by humans.”
Oshawa men arrested, charged after robbery in Oshawa

A group of Oshawa men are facing charges, after a store was robbed in the city. Police say, Xtreme RC on Wilson Road was broken into overnight on Monday, and several thousand dollars of radio-controlled equipment was taken. Four men have been arrested. 19-year-old Blair Adams, 18-year-old James Abraham and Thomas Thompson, along with 34-year-old Richard Hickey are facing break-and-enter and theft charges.
Elaborate indoor marijuana grow-op dismantled in Oshawa

An elaborate indoor marijuana grow-op has been dismantled in Oshawa. Durham police say last Saturday, officers searched a home on Rockcreek Drive and seized over 600 plants and hydroponic equipment with a street value of over $700,000. 25 year-old Wenwen Li of Scarborough was arrested and charged with several offences including possession for the purpose of trafficking and theft of electricity.
Impaired driver causes over $100,000 in damage after crash in Courtice

A 60 year-old Clarington man is facing impaired driving charges after a collision which severed a gas line. According to authorities, just before 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, witnesses reported seeing the lone male driver travelling along Bloor Street East when he crossed over traffic, mounted a boulevard, hit a tree, a residence on Beckett Crescent and a parked car. The collision severed a residential gas meter. Combined damage is estimated in excess of $100,000. No one was injured. David Peltier has been charged.
29 year-old man charged after collision between a vehicle and CN Train in Uxbridge

A 29 year-old man has been charged for fleeing the scene of a collision between a vehicle and CN Train in Uxbridge. Durham police say the incident took place on Monday, in the York-Durham Line and Zephyr Road area. Following the crash, the vehicle involved was found demolished and unoccupied further down the tracks. Richard Barbour of Newmarket is facing multiple charges.

A pair of suspects, charged in an alleged terror plot, will appear in a Toronto court on Wednesday morning. Both 35-year-old Raed Jaser and 30-year-old Chiheb Esseghaier are expected to appear by video, charged in an alleged plot to bomb a via rail train that runs between Toronto and New York City. The two men were arrested in late April and the plot is thought to have had backing from Al-Qaeda.

A second man arrested in the death of Tim Bosma is due in a Hamilton court today to face a charge of first-degree murder. Twenty five year old Mark Smich was arrested in Oakville yesterday and police continue to seek a third suspect. 27 year old Dellen Millard of Toronto, is already facing charges of first-degree murder, forcible confinement and theft of a vehicle. Police say Bosma was killed after taking two men on a test drive of a pickup he was trying to sell online.
Police charge man with arson after car fire in Whitby

Durham Police have made an arrest following an arson in Whitby. Officers say they were called to a parking lot at Gordon and Victoria on Sunday night, to find a 2013 Kia on fire. They arrested and charged a 40-year-old man, who was already on parole. The vehicle was fully destoryed. Police also found two stolen vehicle keys on the suspect, taken from a woman’s residence. His name is not being released right now, to protect the victim.
Police looking for suspect after robbery at Oshawa pharmacy

Durham Police are hunting for one lone suspect, following a robbery in Oshawa on Wednesday. Officers say it happened at a pharmacy in the Wilson and Devon area before lunch. No injuries were reported. Police and a number of cruisers remain on the scene investigating.
