Durham Police warning residents of possible liquor scam

You might find yourself shopping for some beer or wine this weekend, but Durham Police are warning residents of a possible liquor scam. Officers say two people were offered cheap alcohol while shopping at the LCBO and Whitby Mall. They say in both cases, transactions never happened. But in previous similar cases, victims have been scammed out of their money when the suspect flees before the sale is finished. The suspect is described as: a white male; 5’8″-5’9″ tall: 170lbs, in his late 40′s to early 50′s, with shoulder-length greyish hair(in a ponytail at the time) he also had a tattoo on his neck. The suspect is also described as having a missing tooth. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 6850, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Durham Police warning public of “Mystery Shopper” scam

There have been several reports of a “Mystery Shopper” scam in the Durham Region, and officers are warning the public to be careful. The scam begins with the victim answering an ad to become a mystery shopper. They’ll eventually cash a cheque, and be asked to use money transfer to wire the large amount of funds. The victim will find out later that the cheque is counterfeit, and will have to pay back all the money. Police are encouraging people to educate and protect themselves. Forensics on two locations, three vehicles, to be completed in Tim Bosma case

Hamilton Police may have more answers in the Timothy Bosma homicide case. Forensic analysis of two locations in the Waterloo area, and of three vehicles seized by investigators, are expected to be finished by Saturday. Officers are thanking the public as they’ve received over 700 tips.
26 year-old Toronto man charged in firearm investigation

A 26 year-old Toronto man has been arrested and charged after police seized weapons and drugs from a home in the Pape and O’Connor area. Officials say on Thursday, officers seized a Ruger SR9 semi-automatic 9mm handgun, a CM-11/nine mm (Mac 11) full automatic machine gun and a quantity of marijuana. It’s further alleged that beginning in October 2012, the accused criminally harassed a man. James Park faces 18 charges including forcible confinement, extortion two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Durham Police are looking for the public’s help after a trailer with two snowmobiles in it is stolen in Scugog

Durham police are asking the public for help in locating the suspects responsible for stealing a trailer with two snowmobiles in it. Officers say it was taken from a residential driveway on Scugog Island last week. According to police, during the overnight hours of May 7 th and 8 th the trailer was taken from a home on head road. The trailer is described as: a 2011 silver enclosed trailer with licence plate Ontario K1090P. The first snowmobile is described as: a red 2008 Ski-Doo 600cc with Ontario licence plate 983223 and VIN # 2BPSDD8A08V000090. The second snowmobile is described as: a black 2008cc Ski-doo 800 with Ontario licence plate 979328 and VIN #2BPSBB8D98V000044.
Incinerator found on Dellen Millard’s property

Hamilton Police have seized an incinerator found on the property of a man accused of killing a 32 year old father after a test drive. Police believe Tim Bosma was killed May 6, the same night he took two men for a test drive in a truck he had posted for sale online. His body was found this week, burned beyond recognition. A Toronto man, 27 year old Dellen Millard, has been charged with first-degree murder, forcible confinement and theft of a vehicle. Investigators are searching two of his properties in the Waterloo Region, an airport hangar and a farm, and say they have seized an incinerator found on the farm property. Police wouldn’t say if the incinerator had been used or not. He expects police will continue searching three vehicles, the hangar and the farm for at least another day.
Oshawa man faces child porn charges

Officers in Durham Region have arrested a 20-year-old, following a child porn investigation. Around 6 a.m. Thursday morning, police executed a search warrant on Beatrice Street in Oshawa and seized two computers. Raymond Wilson is facing charges, and police are looking to speak with anyone who had contact with someone under the username “Avatar Aang.”
Durham police issue arrest warrant for 35 year-old Sarnia man following break-and-enters in Beaverton

A 35 year-old man, who is in custody in eastern Quebec, is now wanted by Durham police on break-and-enter charges. Investigators say back in March, the suspect and a 28 year-old man from Oshawa were arrested near the New Brunswick border for driving a stolen vehicle from Beaverton. After a search, officers found computers and electronics that were taken from at least three homes in the Beaverton area. The findings have led to Durham police issuing an official arrest warrant for Kenneth Balice of Sarnia.
Scarborough man charged with assaulting woman in Port Porry

A 35 year old Scarborough man is facing assault charges after a domestic incident in Port Perry involving a child. According to Durham Police, witnesses reported seeing a man chasing a woman, who was carrying a child, in the water street and palmer park area just before 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. The man allegedly grabbed the child, and shoved the woman into a van and drove off. No one was injured. Durham police are thanking the citizen who tried to intervene and then called the incident in. The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the victims.
Routine traffic stop in Pickering results in the seizure of $17,000 worth of Crystal Meth

A 35 year old man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop in pickering. Durham police seized over $17,000 worth of crystal meth after stopping a speeding car on saturday. Derek Smith of Prescott, Ontario is charged with racing and possession for the purpose of trafficking. The rented 2013 Mazda vehicle he was driving was impounded.
Durham police make arrests after seizing $19,000 in cocaine from homes in Whitby and Toronto

Two men, one from Whitby and one from Toronto, have been charged after $19,000 worth of cocaine was seized by Durham police. Investigators made the discovery while searching a pair of homes on Tuesday, including one on Houghton Court in Whitby. 45 year-old Paul Isaacs of Whitby and 47 year-old Ronald Tyrrel of Toronto were arrested and each face several charges.
Two suspects remain on the loose following robbery at Oshawa pharmacy

Two suspects remain on the loose following a robbery in Oshawa. Durham police say on Monday afternoon, the men made off with a quantity of merchandise from the Ritson Pharmacy. One the suspects claimed to have been armed with a handgun during the heist but no weapon was actually seen. One suspect is described as white, between the ages of 35 and 40, about 5’10 and had a light-coloured moustache. The other suspect was also white, between 25 and 35, standing 5’4 to 5’8 and had a medium to heavy build.
