Galen G. Weston named Business Newsmaker of the Year


Canada’s News Directors and Editors have picked Galen G. Weston as their Business Newsmaker of the Year. The Loblaw Executive Chairman garnered 26% of the vote. Weston made headlines in 2013 for one of the biggest Canadian retail takeovers in history, as well as speaking out in favour garment worker reform in 3rd world countries, following the deadly Bangledesh factory collapse. Both George Cope, BCE’s Chief Executive George Cope and former Blackberry CEo Thornsten Heins were 2nd, with each receiving 17% of the vote.
