Research in Motion disappears from stock markets Monday…becomes Blackberry

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Business

The Waterloo-based company is changing its name to Blackberry after unveiling its new smartphones last week.  Its stock ticker on the TSX will now be “BB” and “BBRY” on the Nasdaq.  RIM stock closed up slightly at just over $13.00 a share in Toronto on Friday, after tumbling 17 percent in the previous two sessions.  While the blackberry Z-10 phone goes on sale in Canada on Tuesday, analysts say there’s disappointment that it won’t be available in the US until March.
