Tanker truck crash in southwest Oshawa knocks out power for three hours overnight

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Roads

A tanker truck crash knocked out power to a part of southwest Oshawa for three hours Thursday night.  Durham Police say the truck slammed into a hydro pole at Phillip Murray Drive and Stevenson Road around 10:30 pm.  Oshawa PUC says about 1,000 customers were affected and the power was restored by 1:24 a.m. Friday.  The tank trailer was hauling pig’s blood and there was no spillage of contents. The tractor portion sustained $100,000 in damage and is considered a write-off. The 30 year-old driver from Quebec was taken to hospital as a precaution.  No charges have been laid as the crash is still under investigation.
