Mississauga teacher charged in sexual abuse case

Peel Police have laid charges against a teacher from Mississauga for a historical sexual abuse case.  According to authorities, a 16 year old male says he was sexually abused by his male gym teacher for 2 years starting in 1992.  51 year old Michael Albert Russell is facing numerous offences.  Investigators are concerned there may be additional victims, as Russell was a teacher at Applewood Heights Secondary School during the early 1990’s, as well as Central Peel, West Credit, JA Turner and for the past 14 years at Rick Hansen Secondary School.  He has coached volleyball and belonged to various external associations.   Anyone with information is asked to call police at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3460, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
