It was a deadly summer for West Nile virus in Durham Region

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Healthcare

It was a deadly season in Durham Region for West Nile, and the health department is happy to say it has come to an end.  The Region saw seven reported cases, including two deaths this past summer.  Manager of Environmental Health Laura Freeland says there were more positive mosquitos right across the province this summer. Freeland says the number of West Nile cases is not necessarily confirmed, as many people may have the virus but do not have to seek medical attention.
