Hold-out couple in Durham could cause delays to 407 east extension

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham

A hold-out couple in Durham could cause delays to the 407 east extension. The Ministry of Transportation expropriated the lands where the Kapostins have lived for 50 years, but the elderly couple so far is refusing to leave. In a written statement, their lawyer said given the size of the project and number of variables involved, they’re looking for six more months in their home. The ministry would not comment specifically on the case, as it’s still before the courts, but they’re planning to open the first phase of the extension to Harmony Road in Oshawa by late 2015.
