Canada’s prostitution laws are again in the spotlight. The Supreme Court of Canada will hear appeals affecting prostitution-controls. Ottawa is challenging a decision by Ontario’s top court, earlier this year, striking down a ban on bawdy houses. The court determined that sex workers are put in danger by being forced to work outside. Prostitution itself isn’t illegal, but many of the activities surrounding it are. A cross-appeal by sex trade workers will also be heard, fighting the ban on soliciting.
