Durham Region to test nuclear alerting system in Clarington

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham

Regional officials will be testing the nuclear emergency alerting system in Clarington Thursday, meaning residents may hear sirens.  Officials say the sirens are located in a three kilometre radius of the Darlington Nuclear station and will be tested during daytime, business hours.  The tests are done every May and October in conjunction with regular maintenance to ensure the system is working properly.  The sirens are meant to warn residents in the unlikely event of a nuclear or other large scale emergency.
