Police identify the victim of a fatal Cabbagetown stabbing

Police will increase their presence in Cabbagetown following a violent murder. At a press conference Wednesday, officials identified 55 year old Nighisti Semret as the victim of a stabbing, around 7:00 am Tuesday. She was on her way home from work at the Delta Chelsea hotel when she was attacked. Police encourage area residents to be vigilant, and ask that anyone who may know who the killer might be to come forward. The suspect is described as white, about 5’10″ and was wearing dark clothing and a cap or baseball hat.  Police have released security camera video of the suspect, and it can be seen by clicking here.  Anyone with information is urged to call police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
