Panhandler violently assaulted in Ajax

Durham Police are thanking a group of good Samaritans who came to the rescue of a panhandler in Ajax.  Officials say on Friday afternoon, a 60 year old man suffered serious injuries, when he was violently assaulted on Westney Road North.  Witnesses stopped the assault, immediately called 911 and followed the suspect.  Police were able to quickly track down and arrest the suspect.  26 year old George Paragh, from Ajax, has been charged.  Anyone with information is urged to call police at 905-579-1520, ext. 2528 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
