Toronto woman sentenced to a year in jail for tax scheme

A Toronto woman has been sentenced to a year in jail for a tax fraud scheme. According to the Canada Revenue Agency, Penelope Donick filed 269 false income tax returns for her clients for the 2005 to 2008 tax years, including a total of more than $4 million in false charitable donations. She has also been fined $200,000. Donick has five years to pay the fine, or she will have to serve an additional two years behind bars.
