Town of Whitby increases development charges

The Town of Whitby is increasing its development charges. Mayor Pat Perkins says they review the figures every five years to ensure they’re as up to date as possible. Perkins says they discussed the issue with several development industry representatives at their last council meeting and were actually told by some that the town wasn’t charging enough. Meanwhile, Perkins says with so much activity in Brooklin, they’re also looking at the area’s road networks, in particular, the planned highway link that’ll run between the 401 and the 407. Whitby’s last council meeting also had great news for active residents. The town is celebrating the opening of two new Bocce courts. Bocce is similar to lawn bowling and can be played as a team or individual. The new courts are located at Cullen Central Park and will be fully accessible.
