Charges laid after fatal, single-vehicle accident in east-end Toronto

A single-vehicle crash in Toronto’s east-end has claimed the life of one person.  Police say the accident happened at about 4:00 am Sunday, on McNicoll Avenue near Birchmount Road.  Officials say the car left the roadway and hit a tree.  A passenger in the vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.  The 20 year old man’s name has not been released.  The driver, 20 year old Hongyu Chen, from Toronto, suffered non-life threatening injuries and is now facing several charges, including impaired driving causing death.  Any witnesses are urged to call police at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
