Lance Armstrong steps down from his Livestrong position

Cyclist Lance Armstrong is stepping down as Chairman of the cancer-fighting charity that he helped to found. He says wants to distance his Livestrong organization from the allegations of doping against him and his teams when he won seven Tour de France titles. Just before his announcement, NIKE said it was terminating Armstrong’s contract “with great sadness.” The clothing and footwear company said the evidence that Armstrong participated in doping and misled the company for more than a decade is insurmountable.
