The majority of people with mental illnesses or addictions in Ontario aren’t getting treatment for their conditions. That according to a new report, which says the burden of mental illness in the province is higher than that of all cancers and infectious diseases combined. Doctor Heather Manson, with Public Health Ontario says despite major gains made recently, the biggest road-block is still the stigma surrounding mental illness. Manson says if you feel a friend or family member is dealing with a mental health or addiction issue, talk to them about it and try to help them through any assessment or treatment.
