Durham Region begins planning for the 2013 budget

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham

Although budget time is still months away, regional councillors in Durham are already starting to work on the 2013 financial plan. The region has set a target increase of 2.75 percent, which translates into an extra $64, on the tax bill of a home valued at $319,000.  Regional Councillor Bob Chapman says the budget includes a 7.2 percent funding increase, for Durham Regional Police. The budget will also see Durham Region Transit get a 12.2 percent funding increase to help pay for planned service expansions. A finalized budget will be delivered in February.
