Health officials in Durham to assist those wanting to quit smoking

All smokers with the urge to quit are getting a helping hand from the Durham Region Health Department. A free program is educating residents on the most effective ways to fight tobacco addiction. Public Health Nurse Bernadette Riordan says group participation, for many people, is a key part of the process. Riordan says the sessions will include discussions on medications, planning for situations that could cause relapse, and information about support organizations.
