As if the state-of-the-art facility wasn’t enough, Durham College’s ‘Centre for Food’ now has the enforcement of a celebrity chef. The new 36,000 square foot building is expected to open next September, and offer a full-service, green-certified teaching restaurant, labs, classrooms, greenhouses and gardens. President Don Lovisa says chef Jamie Kennedy has announced his support and his plan to act as a mentor to students. The college has also launched their ‘Growing for our Future’ fundraising campaign, aiming to raise $5 million by years end. So far, they’ve collected $3.3 million.
