OSSTF asks for solidarity and support this World Teachers Day

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Education, GTA, Politics, Toronto

Educators want the focus of this, World Teachers Day, to be the treatment of teachers by the Ontario government.  The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation claims Bill 115 stripped their members of important labour rights, and they’re asking that everyone “take a stand for teachers.” Vice President Harvey Bischof says they’re acting in solidarity, hoping to come to a fair deal. Teachers across the province recently held strike votes, to show their discontent with the bill that freezes wages and legislates their right to labour action. The OSSTF is asking that parents, students and other community members join the teachers’ fight and take a stand for education in Ontario.
