Number of students at UOIT has increased tenfold since school opened in 2003

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Education, Toronto

Enrollment at UOIT has increased tenfold, in the ten years since its founding. The university opened its doors to 947 students in 2003, and this year welcomed 9,203 students. Registrar Victoria Choy says continued growth will be a challenge for the university as space becomes more and more limited, but adds that fast paced growth poses a problem they’re happy to deal with. Choy says the majority of students come from Scarborough and Durham Region, while many others came from elsewhere in the GTA. This year there is also nearly 400 international undergraduate students.
