Lakeridge to soon unveil a new CT Scanner in Oshawa

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Healthcare

Patients will soon benefit from a new CT Scanner at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Crews are putting the finishing touches on the space where the equipment will go, and the set-up is said to be 70 percent complete. President and CEO Kevin Empey says a CT Scanner is like a super powered x-ray and is vital in diagnosing cancer, as well as stroke detection and bone structure tests. Once installed, Lakeridge Health will have three operational scanners, two in Oshawa and one in Bowmanville. The Oshawa Hospital Foundation has committed most of this year’s fundraising efforts to the new CT Scanner, and with $1.9 million raised so far, they’re very near their goal.
