Energy consumption expected to decline in Ontario

Energy consumption is expected to remain flat in 2012 and then decline slightly over the next year. According to Independent Electricity System Operator spokesperson, Alexandra Campbell, says there are a number of reasons for the expected decrease, including the recession, improved conservation efforts and alternative energy sources have led to a drop in demand over recent years. Campbell says more reliance on solar energy will also constrain demand on the bulk power system.
