Private members’ bill introduced, to try and prevent gas-and-dash incidents

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Crime, Politics, Toronto

A private member’s bill was introduced Thursday at Queens’ Park, in an effort to curb gas-and-dash incidents.  The move comes after a gas station attendant in Toronto was hit and killed by the driver of an SUV who tried to flee after filling up with more than $100.00 in gas.  The bill will mandate pre-payment at gas stations, introduce stiff penalties for gas station owners who force attendants to pay for stolen gas and license suspensions for convicted gas thieves.  Police are urging 39 year old Max Edwin Tutiven, to turn himself in to face a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the attendant’s death.
