Students in Clarington walk out of class in support of teachers
Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Education, Politics
Students at Clarington Secondary School and Bowmanville High School walked out of class Thursday. The protest is an effort to see extracurricular activities returned. However, grade 12 student Stephanie Clark says their message isn’t to teachers, but rather to the province. They’re asking the province teach their educators with fairness, so that students can get back their activities. Clark says students have taken over in organizing some school activities, but are struggling to get sports teams to competitions or to nail down venues for senior prom. Meanwhile, Clark encourages students at other schools to do the same thing, saying it is noticed and can make a difference.
