Study points to a rise in the number of people using GTA food banks

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, GTA, Toronto

It looks like more people are using Toronto-area food banks. A new study by the Daily Bread Food Bank points to an 18 percent increase in visits to GTA food banks over the last four years.  The study also found that more children and adults reported going hungry at least once a week.  Most people who use food banks, claim they’re spending almost three-quarters of their income on shelter, leaving little money to buy anything to eat.  The report was released in conjunction with the start of the Daily Bread Food Bank’s, Thanksgiving Day food drive.
