Durham District School Board focuses on safety week

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Education

The Durham District School Board is giving a nod to safety this week.  Across the board events are being held, including an event to celebrate new defibrillators and the training of Grade 9 students to use them.  Superintendent of Safe Schools, John Bowyer says they’re very proud of their relationships with the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Advanced Coronary Treatment Foundation.  Bowyer says another big topic they will be focusing on is teen substance abuse.  He says the board recently revised their substance abuse policy to reflect some of the new drugs students may be coming into contact with.
