One person seriously hurt in Ajax apartment fire

One man’s in hospital in critical condition, following an apartment fire in Ajax. Emergency officials say just before 1:00 Sunday morning, they were called to the building on Harwood Avenue, just north of Bayly Street. A dozen units were evacuated. The fire started in a basement apartment, and the resident of that apartment was the only one hurt. Damage is pegged at about $100,000. The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
