Councillors in Oshawa are expressing their disappointment with ORNGE’s recent decision, not to move to the city. ORNGE had planned to close down its operations at Toronto’s Island Airport, and open new stations in Oshawa and Hamilton, but have since abandoned those plans. Oshawa Mayor John Henry says the business case for moving to Oshawa, made all the sense in the world. He says Oshawa gave the air ambulance agency more direct access to certain areas of service. Henry says with all the turmoil taking place at ORNGE, he believes they’re having trouble with determining what direction to go on several issues. The air ambulance service is being investigated by the OPP for financial irregularities and by a provincial committee, over questionable business practices.
