Pickering hosts event to clean-up the city’s shoreline

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham

Residents of Pickering are being asked to do their part in making sure the city’s shoreline is clean. Saturday marks the 19th annual, ‘Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-up’, and Pickering is hosting an event at Rotary Frenchman’s Bay West park. Environmental Awareness Program Coordinator, Michelle Pearce, says it’s important for the public to take ownership of their community. Last year across the country, over 56,000 Canadians participated in the clean-up, and more than 143,000 kilograms of garbage was removed.
