Liberals found to have violated members’ privileges in scrapping of two GTA power plants

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, GTA, Politics, Toronto

The Liberal government is in hot water over the scrapping of two power stations in the GTA.  The speaker has found the Liberals violated members’ privileges for failing to produce documents relating to cancelled plants in Mississauga and Oakville. Dave Levac has told house leaders to resolve the issue amongst themselves, though opposition parties agree that’s unlikely. The Liberals have admitted their mid-election decision to scrap a Mississauga power station will cost taxpayers $190 million, but haven’t revealed the cost for scrapping another gas plant in Oakville the year before.
