Workers injured in chemical spill in Bowmanville

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham

Emergency crews were called to a Bowmanville business on Thursday, after a chemical spill.  Durham Police say the building, at Detox Environmental on Bennett Road, filled with smoke when nitrous oxide, being off-loaded from a tanker truck, came into contact with another substance creating a chemical reaction.  Two workers were injured when they inhaled the substance and were taken to hospital.  A haz-mat team was called in to decontaminate the area and the Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
