Federal Government to look into how contracts are awarded

The Harper Government says it will address concerns raised by a study on the awarding of contracts.  A study by the contracting watchdog at the Department of Public Works says a suspicious number of contracts appear to have been rigged to favour one bidder.  Procurement Ombudsman Frank Brunetta examined 442 sole-source deals over a seven month period, and found that there appeared to be a legitimate attempt to find an alternative supplier in only about 100 of those deals.
