With students across the province heading back to class, health experts are reminding parents and kids of the importance of packing a healthy lunch. The Durham Health Deparment has launched a fruit and vegetable campaign called “Real Food, Real Fast, Real Good”. Public Health nutritionist, Adrienne Baltadjian, says kids are more apt to eat their lunch if you let them help plan it. She says depending on your age and gender, you should be eating seven to ten servings of fruits and vegetables daily, but a 2009 survey showed only 31 percent of Durham residents eat fruits and vegetables more than five times a day.
