Elderly woman hit by truck and killed in Mississauga

An elderly woman was hit and killed by a tractor trailer in Mississauga on Wednesday.  Peel Police say the incident happened just after 1:00 in the afternoon, as the woman was trying to cross the street at Burnamthorpe and Wolfdale.  Officials say the driver of the truck, a 47 year old man from Quebec, remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.  So far, no charges have been laid.  The victim’s name has not been released.  Any witnesses are urged to call police at 905-453-2121, ext.3710 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
