Workers protest the closing of the Oshawa Health Centre

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, Durham, Healthcare

Medical assistants picketed outside the Oshawa Health Centre Wednesday, in protest of the planned closure of the on-site walk-in clinic.   OPSEU campaign officer, Rick Janson, says the closure is going to affect 27,000 patients in Durham region.  The clinic, which is scheduled to close in October, currently houses seven family doctors, massage therapy and chiropractic services.  Employees are asking that the clinic’s owner, who’s said to be retiring, transfer the clinic to new ownership rather than close the facility permanently.
