Human cases of West Nile in Toronto reaches 35

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories, GTA, Healthcare, Toronto

Toronto Public Health reports a recent spike in human cases of the West Nile Virus, citing 35 human cases, with nine people in hospital and four of those cases in intensive care.  Officials say they are not surprised at the spike, considering the number of mosquitoes which have tested positive for the virus throughout the GTA.  Public health officials are reminding people that staying indoors during dusk and dawn hours – when mosquitoes are most active – is the best way to protect against contracting the virus.
