11 of Durham’s 14 beaches open for swimming

Expect crowds at Durham Region’s beaches this weekend, as the mercury heats up to the high 20s and low 30s. 11 of the region’s 14 beaches are open, according the health department. Beaverton Beach South in Brock, Elgin Pond in Uxbridge and Kinsmen Beach in Scugog are posted as unsafe for swimming, due to high levels of bacteria.
