Officials are reminding the public to “just say no” to texting and walking

Posted by news | Filed under All News Stories

The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association wants you to cut out the texting and walking.  Canadians send nearly ten million messages an hour – or 227 million per day.  The association says texting while driving is a major no-no, but wants pedestrians to take precautions too.  Association president, Bernard Lord, says people need to be aware of their surroundings so they don’t run into trouble – like getting hit by a car.  Despite hands-free or distracted driving laws in a number of provinces, texting accidents continue to happen.  A Quebec woman died January in a car accident that happened while she was texting behind the wheel.
