Workers unions merge full steam ahead

Canadian Auto Workers delegates have unanimously voted to merge with the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union. CEP delegates will vote on the proposed merger at their convention in October. The resulting union would have 300 thousand members in about 20 industries – mostly manufacturing, communications and transportation. CAW leader, Ken Lewenza says the merged union is needed in light of what he calls the government’s attack on unions in recent years.
